installing hp printer

I have windows 98 at home, but some time back I installed
windows xp with windows 98 still in tack, but I noticed as
time went on my printer was only printing black and it is
a tri color cartridge, so anyway I kind of left it alone.
Since then up the present moment I uninstalled my printer
and went to reinstall it all over again and I get a pop up
that tells me to insert my windows 98 2nd edition, well
when I purchased the computer windows 98 was already
programed in. I need help / advise on what to do 'cause I
really need my computer / printer.

You should have gotten a restore or W98 CD with your computer; however, it
is obviously too late at this point. Do a find on: win98_24.cab
and if found, note its location. The W98 cab files may be on your hard
drive and when the CD is needed, point the system to the cabs' location.
