Default Clean Boot Methods

My system is corrupted so that I cannot run a clean boot
from the System Configuation Utility. The Pulldown Menu
Flashes for an instant but retracts before application can
be set and run. This also happens when the msconfig.exe
is selected. I believe the system configuration has been
sabotaged so it cannot fix itself with a clean boot. Is
there another way to start and run a clean boot?

Boot in safe mode. Your machine may have a virus that disables AV programs,
msconfig, regedit, etc.
