Default Floppy Disk(s) Fail help please

Win98
Oldr PC..133

Works fine for what my daughter requires for a 2nd pc, but an annoying error
shows up on the dos start screen as follows:
"Floppy Disk(s) Fail (40)" the PC then awaits following input:...
I am able to continue ok after pressing F1 key.
Any ideas on the above please?
TIA

Boot with a W98 start up floppy in the drive to test if the floppy drive has
failed--I think it has as the message appears to be one from the BIOS.

First check to make sure the floppies connectors are properly seated.

If no joy, test the floppy drive and cable in another machine.
Connect the FD in test machine and use the cable from the test machine, if it doesn't
work the FD's gone South.
If it does work, switch the known good cable with the suspect cable, if it doesn't
work the cables gone South.
If it does work, then the I/O controller on the suspect machine may be bad or the
BIOS may be corrupted.

Check the BIOS to see if the FD is the correct type/size.
Check that only one FD is present in the BIOS as it may be looking for a FD that
isn't there.

OK now!!!........no warning about floppy disk.
Floppy drive was ok, but all I did was alter the boot sequence to C, A, from
A, C.
If it was anything else I am unaware.
Thanks.

That's because it is no longer looking for it at bootup since it is
booting from your hard drive.
Can you access the drive from within Windows now?
