Default Clock losing time

The clock on my six year old Compaq Presrio (Windows 98) is losing time at
about 2 or 3 minutes/hour. Is this a hardware or software problem?

It could be that the BIOS battery needs to be replaced,
because six years is long for one to last.

This is not software problem change your comos battry on
motherboard .
