As explained in Windows Help:
-----------------------------------------

Click Start, and then click Shut down.

Click Restart, click OK, and then press and hold the CTRL key
until the Microsoft Windows 98 Startup Menu appears.

For some machines, you can use F8 instead of CTRL
to bring up the Microsoft Windows 98 Startup Menu.

Enter the number for Safe mode, and then press ENTER.

Thanks for your quick response and started ok. Why I asked
the question is for the following: whenever I lauch my
I.E. brower, instead of getting the usual page such as:
http://sympatico.msn.ca/ I get any one of the following
two: "about:blank" or "searchportal" . I supose its
some kind of spyware and or Trojan or virus. I tried to
delete both of these pests and ran "ad-aware 6" from
Lavasoft, did a Scandisk and Defrag but they come back!
BTW when I ran ad-aware I got several object recognized; I
sent them into the Quarantine...wonder I they should be
deleted, I'm a bit scared, since most of them refer to
being registry related. Any help would be appreciated.
Tks.

Candlin got the main question. As for AdAware, I'm afraid I've never
used it. However, most have said it safer to use than SpyBot. Unless
they are obviously Microsoft stuff, such as the thing Windows Media
Player does, I say to eventually delete them.
