Default BIOS upgrade

Just because there is an update to BIOS, should one attempt the update?
What would be the benefit? What "could" go wrong? Why would the
manufacturer make it so difficult for the average Joe and Joelynn?

Kevin,

update?

No, not unless the updated bios offers some additional features required
by you as a user such as support for a faster processor than when
initially shipped and you wish to swap out your current cpu and install
the faster one that is now supported.

What would be the benefit?

What could go wrong?

Lots including ending up with a PC little better than a high cost doorstop
requiring a repair beyond the competence of most and most likely needing
the motherboard if not the complete PC being returned to the manufacturer
for repair.

Why would the manufacturer make it so difficult for the average
Joe and Joelynn?
