IE 6 in Windows 98 Second Edition
You have to install add-ons in Firefox to get many of the functions that are built into Opera. User Agent Switcher :: Add-ons for Firefox https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/59/ Thanks for the link, i've never fussed much about addons or extentions; Having just spent an hour there, I can see there is much more I should look at and learn. My f/f version is around 1.8 or 1.9 with add ons. Ed As is generally the case with Firefox, you have to install a third-party add-on for this functionality. User Agent Switcher :: Add-ons for Firefox https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/59/ -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP Oct. 2002 - Sept. 2009 A+ http://dts-l.net/ . Nice Point, Glen. You most certainly need lots of third party extensions with FF 3.6.3 current as of now of course but I do enjoy using it more than IE 8 as with the case of Windows XP, Vista and 7 most of the time with the extra extensions. In the case of IE 6 sp1 with 98/98SE then FF 2.20 is clearly superior. I still have not found love for the Opera browser although I have been able to tolerate it on 98SE. |

True, but the problem is that FF 2.20 has vulnerabilities as MEB has pointed out. The challenge is to find a good browser replacement that Windows 98/98SE supports. I am tempted to give that K-Meleon browser a try. There were only 3 posts about it in this windows 98 general newsgroup and no one seems to have let us know how well it works so I guess I will jump in and try it on the 98SE system but I am still waiting for the motherboard so I cannot try yet. |
