epson 660 /W98
Anyone here have an Epson 660 that could answer me a quick question?
I've just had a serious rummage at http://www.epson.com. The driver was easy enough to find and download and I collected sc660_win9x_5.0c_en.exe the driver but, which version of the Status Monitor do I use ? It's unclear as to whether I should get "Status Monitor 2 or 3," and which version ? regards, Richard |

....I wondered who I was then, for a moment ! ...posted that from my Dads'
PC...anyway I found my own answer, the "ink tank" remaining ink graphic thingy, is in the driver for the 660, so perhaps there is no status monitor for the 660, and the ink remaining was all I wanted it for anyway. Other features are not desirable because the PC that the printer is connected to is a 166mhz... regards, Richard "me123" nosuch@anything wrote in message ... thanx Hugh, I think I will download it - status monitor 3 that is. On the
main http://www.epson.com site, earlier today I got up a list of Epson driver downloads, (on a dark blue screen, haven't been able to find it since...too lazy to go downstairs back on dads' machine now...), and going from top to bottom, there were a few drivers, then a status monitor download, then a few more driver downloads, and another status monitor. The list was very ambiguous with no information as to which status monitor should be used with which driver. regards, Richard "Hugh Candlin" wrote in message ... The list was very ambiguous with no information as to which status monitor should be used with which driver. I'm familiar with the screen. I have at least 4 Epsons, although I don't have my 660 at this location to check it. I am inclined to do something that I rarely do, which is to caution you to perhaps leave well enough alone. Normally, I do not hesitate to update drivers, flash the BIOS, whatever. But I have had a number of face-to-face combat sessions with Epson's Monitor, one time going so far as to run Regedit and wipe out everything connected with Epson. Epson software in particular and printing problems in general tend to cause me more grief than the normal Windows Whatsups, so I tend to tread warily in that area. regards, Richard "Hugh Candlin" wrote in message ...
