Network Neighborhood - Adding Service
First thank you very much for trying to help out.
Although I am going to talk about DCC the issue is actually very much simpler per below. I am trying to use Direct-Cable-Connection (DCC) which I have successfully done before using other computers. I seem to be getting stuck at a very simple point on my Gateway computer which is: Right click on "Network Neighborhood" and then left click on "properties" and then I left click on "Add" and highlight "Service" and then left click on "Add" to be able to Add "File and Print Sharing". However when I click on the last "Add" instead of a number of choices coming up and being able to choose "File and Print Sharing" nothing at all happens. I click on "Add" and I don't get any choices. So....I can't choose to add the service that I need (File and Print Sharing) and can't proceed any further with setting up DCC. Both computers are running Win98 SE and this is not a problem with the other computer. Please don't tell me to reinstall Win98SE I feel that this is due to some registry setting or some overall system setting. I really appreciate any help you help you can provide. Take care...........Zel |

Bill:
Thanks for trying to help. The problem still persists since even when I click on the "share" button a sharing option is not available for any folders. However, I was able to find a solution from a fellow poster per below... Please see this Microsoft Knowledge Base article for a solution: Network Components Missing in Network Tool in Control Panel http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;193637 To search the Knowledge Base, go to this web page: http://support.microsoft.com/default...;EN-US;KBHOWTO -- Best Wishes, Steve Winograd, MS-MVP (Windows Networking) "Bill Watt" wrote in message news On Sat, 23 Jul 2005 16:18:15 GMT, "Zel Dolinsky" wrote: First thank you very much for trying to help out.
