Thanks for the quick reply.
I had "Log on automatically at system startup" checked in TweakUI \Logon, so I unchecked it, OK, and rebooted. But at next boot, something did appear, but just a fraction of a second, so I wasn't able to recognize if it is the Logon Screen, still less to enter something. I retried 2 more times, and at the 3 boots I got same result. Meanwhile, in TweakUI \Logon I changed the "User name", but how do I know the current name, so to see if my change has been applied?" I then connected my old computer, which uses Windows 98 SE, to the router as well. I can connect to the internet on both machines, check e-mail using Outlook Express and each can function fine. I shared the entire C:\ on the 98SE computer in an effort to copy some files to the new XP computer. In My Network Places on the XP, I can see the C:\ of the 98SE, and I transferred the files over to the XP. However, when I share a directory on the XP computer, I cannot "see" it on the 98SE computer. When I attempt to Find Computer or Files on the 98SE, the computer takes a very long time and then returns with No Files Found. Also, the 98SE does not "see" the new Epson Photo Printer that I just installed on the new XP computer. The 98SE will be located in my son's room, and I suppose he could just save his work and then go to the XP computer to copy, and or print it, but I would like to try and fix it. Any thoughts or suggestions on how to resolve these two issues? |
