Default can't assign ip address

Recently, I downloaded some progam (forgot what it is) for
reducing the virus attack. From then on, I could not see
my ip address from the internet protocol properties.
However, the network was still working. Later on, I could
not reassigned my ip address after I accidently changed
the setting mode to "automatically". Is there any way to
unlock the ip assignment? Thanks!
