Sasser_D warm in WindowsME
There is NO mechanism by which Internet Explorer can inform you that you have
the Sasser worm. Further since Win Me does not have the LSASS service even if you have the worm it can do nothing to your system. To quote Symantec: (http://www.sarc.com/avcenter/venc/da....sasser.d.html) W32.Sasser.D "Systems Not Affected: DOS, Linux, Macintosh, Microsoft IIS, Novell Netware, OS/2, UNIX, Windows 3.x, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT, Windows Server 2003" To quote Microsoft: (http://www.microsoft.com/security/incident/sasser.asp) What You Should Know About the Sasser Worm and Its Variants " Software Not Affected Windows XP 64-Bit Edition Version 2003 Windows ServerT 2003 Windows XP 64-Bit Edition SP1 Windows Millennium Edition Windows 98 Second Edition Windows 98 Windows NT® 4.0 SP6a " So now stop posting that you have Sasser and instead carry out a thorough check of your system using your preferred antivirus application equipped with an updated current set of viral reference signatures. -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP Ella ________please pay attention. wrote: my os is Windows ME. You've reinstalled ME over itself from the CD - and reverted a lot of stuff
to the un-updated versions in the process.(totally unnecessary, as Mike has already pointed out - but, since we're there.....) Look here for advice on how to cure the version soup that you now have for IE. http://www.btinternet.com/~winnoel/winhelp.htm -- Noel Paton (MS-MVP 2002-2004, Win9x) Nil Carborundum Illegitemi http://www.btinternet.com/~winnoel/millsrpch.htm Please read http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm on how to post messages to NG's or http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/f.../Mar27pmvp.asp "Ella ________please pay attention." wrote in message ... my os is Windows ME.
