Default help with my scanner

I have a new scanner/printer. I installed the software and
the printer is working beautifully. My computer recognizes
the scanner, but anytime I go to use the scanner, an error
message comes up telling me that the scanner is
unavailable. Recognized but unavailable...I have somehow
disconnected a line of communication between my computer
and the scanner.
How do I fix this?!?!?!
Please help me...

Sarah

Are you sure the scanner is OK? Can you copy directly from scanner to
printer?

Default help with my scanner

If you meant that both printer and scanner were working "beautifully," after
installation, and then some time afterwards the scanner stopped working, so
long as there is no hardware failure, reinstalling the software that came
with it, including drivers would be one of the first things to try. If the
software will tolerate it, install it again without first uninstalling it.
If it won't have it, uninstall, reboot and install it. Disable, or
temporarily stop you anti-virus software from loading at startup, before
installing drivers and/or software. a/v software can interfere with
software installs, and prevent them from installing properly.

regards, Richard

Default help with my scanner

Sarah
Hate to be the bearer of bad news but I've had this problem with my HP
scanner for 5 years. Tried everything I can think of but it still
happens. I used to reboot and it would then work but that was
inconvenient. I now simply disconnect it when it happens and
immediately reconnect and it works.

Try uninstalling the scanner software and reinstalling it.
