Double click not working

I could not open any file using double click. I am running
98SE. If I need to open a word file, I need to go from
start-progrm-word- then find the file and open it. If I
double click and try to open it. The word will become
frozen and did not open that file for me. This happens to
Words, Excel, Access. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like something messed up the file associations. D-Click works for =
other things?

What version of Office are you using? If Office 2000 or later, try =
running Detect and Repair. Can be started from the Help menu of any of =
those apps, or from Add/Remove Programs. Since it sounds like some part =
of the installation that the apps have in common, running it once should =
fix it--shouldn't have to run it for each app.

Of course, you should also consider the possibility that there's some =
malicious intruder at play, also. The usual recommendations apply =
(dozens of recent posts here include the list of cleaners suggested by =
most.)
