floppy drive now a "b" drive?
Doing a clean install win98se (after fdisk and format).
boot disk won't start in "a" drive but will start floppy if I b:at the command prompt. the floppy "a" drive is now responding as a "b" drive. Here's the problem: when I do a dir on the a: prompt I get the contents of a boot disk? therefore where is the "a" drive? is it on the hard drive? virtual drive or what? I cant read or write to the "a" drive (remember its a virtual drive?) the actual floppy drive is now called the "b" drive.and I can write and read through b: prompt.....whew so here's the real problem...when installing win98se it "thinks" that the boot floppy is still in ("a" drive) and asks to remove it before proceeding....no disk to remove...! i've checked the bios ect and don't see anything wrong help please |

Searched the BIOS and can't find anything like the swap
floppies, yes that was my first thought to. Any other ideas? where are the files that are in "a" drive actually held? even when I reboot "a" drive had the files there even though the floppy drive ("B") is empty! thanks -----Original Message----- Sounds like the setting in your BIOS for "Swap floppy drives" (or similar wording) has been changed would be my quess.
