Default laptop's performence slow

Hi,

I have a Copaq Presario(1240) laptop wich is unusually
slow the last 6 months or so. It has always just been used
for admin andsome mail and internet stuff. It has been
fine, but now it's just so slow and I get these blue
screens that says there something wrong, but hey?????
It has a 3.81G disc and 64MB of RAM. 2/3 of the disc is
free space. Defragging doesn't work, deleting programms I
don't use doesn't work. Don't know what's wrong.
Does anyone?? Should I just put in more memory?
Thanks

You think maybe that's a hint?
What do the blue screen messages say, *exactly*?

Update your anti-virus app and then run a full-system virus scan.

Use CWShredder, the CoolWeb removal tool, available he
http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads31.html
http://aumha.org/downloads/cwshredder.zip
Close all browser windows and open apps, start CWShredder and click the Fix button.

In addition, install Ad-Aware SE free edition, start it, click its 'Check for
Updates' link in the app to install updates, then use it to scan your system, and
remove what it finds.
Ad-Awa
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/

Install SpywareBlaster:
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download2859.html
Click the link in the app to check for and install updates, then click to 'Enable
all protection'.
Update at least weekly.

If problems still exist, download, unzip, and run Hijack This from one of these
locations:
http://computercops.biz/downloads-cat-14.html
http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads31.html
http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads...HijackThis.exe
Unzip to a folder other than your Desktop or the Temp folder, doubleclick
HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log"
button.
Press that, save the log somewhere you can find it (Desktop, My Documents, or
similar).
Most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.

Copy the log files and paste them into a new post at this forum:
http://forum.aumha.org/viewforum.php?f=30

In your post, please state your problem clearly and what you've done so far to fix
it.

The folks there will tell you what to remove.

See the "housekeeping" you should complete before you post your log:

Thanks for the advice 'Glee',

At first it didn't work because I couldn't download
anything properly to the laptop, so then I downloaded it
to my computer, put it on a floppy and 'fed' it to the
laptop. Results: over a 100 spies (dataminer) and 498
infected files by W32/klezh@mm and W32/Elkern.cav.c.
I' ve gone lazy man, my computer has all this stuff like
ad-aware and a virusscan that is updated every day
automatically, so I didn't realize that some people still
go on the internet with just the protection the internet-
provider offers them. But hey, the lap-machine's
performance went up, the owner is happy (a friend of
mine), so thanks for making me think!!!

Glad to hear it. Amazing how many problems that a few years ago would have
indicated simple software or hardware glitches, now indicate malware.
