Default Ad-aware Definition File Update [SE1R98] 16.03.06

Numerous *false-positives* on this update are being reported.

Users are advised to *not* (delete) any scan findings for now.
Best _guess_ is that Lavasoft will re-release the file or issue another.

Yes, Silj, me ol' oompaloompa! Though both dated March 16th, there is a
later version now available - at least at:
http://download.lavasoft.de.edgesuit...ublic/defs.zip. ie the earlier
one was 14.30, while the present one is 17.02. Of course, if they don't
specify, folk will think they have the FPing (aaaaah!) one even when they
actually have the corrected version!

I ran it and it came up with nothing, as usual. Do you know what false
positives it detected?

Any chance this only affects WinXP machines Silj wasn't it posted that
it's to do with the Windows Firewall which if I'm right isn't in WinME

I ran it on XP, Joanie and had absolutely no problems or false
alarms.....but I might have downloaded the *fixed* one.

Cheers, Figgs

(Day 45 and patches run out tomorrow.....but will buy some if they are
needed. Smarties seem to be fixing the cravings)

I haven't run it yet as I do my maintenance tasks first thing Monday
mornings each week, but my thinking was that it would not create any false
positives running on 9x family of machines as it is to do with the Windows
Firewall and they don't have one, mind you I could be wrong g

Coming to the end of day 21 and feeling fine, as for your smarties just
think of all that chocolate you're having vbg

In hindsight, Silj, can deletion of those *false positives* cause your
*system* to be *halted*, via disappearance of *SYSTEM.INI* and the
*IFSHELP.SYS* installation?

Harry.
