Default Unable to delete files or format hard drive

Anytime I delete a file from my slave hard drive it
doesn't get deleted. Also if I format the hard drive,
either through Windows or in DOS it doesn't erase the
information on the hard drive. Right now on the drive it
has a capacity of 7.82GB, 703mb used and 7.13GB free but
the problem is it's a 60GB hard drive. Any help would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks

If you got a floppy disk with the drive, use it to set the drive up.
Depending on the age of your BIOS, you might have to use drive overlay
software.

Drive overlays eventualy come back and bite quite a few with mysterious
behavior e.g. disappearin disks.

Drive overlay are a necessary evil when the user is desperate but th user
shoud be fully aware of potential problems down the line.

A drive overlay is a lot safer than doing a BIOS firmware update. While I
don't particularly like using either method (unless forced into it), I think
when a 60 gb drive partitions out to 8 gb, some sort of drastic measure is
required.

Hardly. You must have had a bad BIOS upgrade experiece,
