Original PC CDs Missing
I am fixing my neighbor's HP PC and she cannot locate her orignal recover
CD. Luckily I was able to use an "old" Wind98 upgrade and formatted her hard drive. My problem now is that I have tried to update the monitor driver so that I can load up her PeoplePC Internet software but it won't load until I change the display settings up to 800X600. The slider won't move. So the only way I can figure on doing this is to update her driver and because I don't have the original CD I am missing this file. HPD01020.ICM which is supposed to be located in the cab folder of her CD, which is gone. I have the driver on the PC, I just need this file to get it to load the driver. I'm sure it is a license issue but how can I help her now? Anyone have any ideas? I've contacted HP and will see what they say. 'Till then, I'm not sure what to do. Thanks for any help. Thierry |

Since it's an HP model, just post the model name/type etc. and I'm sure
someone will be able to point you to the correct video drivers for that computer. You can also post a request on one of the three or four HP newsgroups. "Thierry Plouchart" wrote in message ... What you probably actually need is the display driver (for the video card),
not the monitor driver. Go here and enter the product information and then follow the links to the drivers for this computer. http://www.hp.com/country/us/en/supp...isplay=support PattyL "Thierry Plouchart" wrote in message ... Here is where the computer tech at HP sent me for the drivers (I think it was for an Intel chipset driver) after explaining to her my dilemma and lo and behold, it works great now. I still can't load the driver for the display but it doesn't matter since I can change the display screen area which means I can load her Internet CD now. Now I don't see a modem though and there are a bunch of question marks in Device Manager next to the communication ports. Oy Vay! I haven't got the software from the PeoplePC yet (her Provider) so I will try to load it and see what happens. Hopefully this will happen in the next couple of days. At least I'm learning something! Anybody have an old computer they want to give me? Just kidding!! "Thierry Plouchart" wrote in message ... I am fixing my neighbor's HP PC and she cannot locate her orignal recover CD. The model number is a Pavilion 6638 and the monitor is an M50. I already
have the drivers for it and (see my other post below) I have the display working fine. Now I will need (probably) the modem driver. In the next day or so I will find out after loading her Internet provider if it works. Thanks "darkrats" wrote in message ...
