Harry......we know one hell of a lot more about you Americans than you
realize. The pity is that you collectively know *nothing* about us.
I.....like millions of others......know EXACTLY where I was and what I
was doing at the moment we heard the JFK news.

Feeding Elayne, 5 months old, and heard it on the radio, plus got a
phone call.

It is such a pity that your news media don't tell you anything about
us......I was stunned the other day to be told by a Florida woman that
they had NO IDEA we were fighting in Afghanistan and she apologized
profusely on behalf of all Americans.

We get alternately amused and ****ed off re this attitude. But I
digress.....this is not a political ng.

Enjoy your Turkey Day......ours was Oct. 11th or so. (the right time,
chuckle.....coz when do they bring the crops in??)

PS.....No looking this up now, but off the top of your head, where did
Christopher Colombus land in the US.....seeing as you have a holiday for
him, and statues and so on. I do know where he landed, btw. But that
is your quiz for today.

Cheers.....Heather
PS.....I sure am on the right side of the border. There is no way I
would live or vacation in the US. No offence intended, but I prefer
Canada.

You are a day late and a dollar short!!

JFK was assassinated on Nov. 22nd, 1963.

And "his body lay in repose in East Room of White House"
the following day (Nov.23, 1963).
The LOON was almost right on.
I am impressed by your knowledge and involvement concerning this

You wouldn't remember it frankly. Elayne was 5 months old and I

What has astonished me is that I haven't seen ONE WORD about it being

There you go generalizing again, Figgs. You find one brain dead 'snowbird'
from Fla. and throw the rest of us in the same pot.

It is common knowledge amongst everyone I know that Canadian troops are in
Afghanistan and have been since the latter part of 2001 (or thereabouts, I
don't have the specific date). IIRC, it was your Prime Minister Chretien
that deployed them, mostly consisting of Naval personnel patrolling the
north Arabian Sea. At their peak, there were about 1,500 total. Then again
in 2002 there were approx. 750 combat/reconnaissance personnel sent to
Kandahar. And, yes, we are quite aware of the fact that there were four of
these brave men killed in a "friendly fire" incident during the first six
months of deployment.
Probably why the group returned home about mid-year. As it is a NATO
operation, it would only stand to reason that a NATO country would
participate......duh. Since Harper took charge, I think you are up to
about 2,000 troops now. And, yes, I am regularly made aware of Canadian
casualties that go on today in Afghanistan, along with those of other
countries.
Don't think that we ALL turn a blind eye to these things. Now here's an
idea.......how about making it a law that all American defectors have to
spend 5 years in the Canadian military and send their butts to Afghanistan?
How's that for fair and balanced?

And, I was in study hall when the announcement that JFK had been shot came
over the public address system.

Further, we went through the Columbus thing a long time ago.........I knew
that answer, too.
Heirloom, old and I must be tired

No offence taken, but you need all your energy to stay warm in the

other hand have our hands full to *protect ourselves* from the rest of the

Being one-sided is not such a good thing either in today's developing "NWO"

How about taking just a little peek south of the border?
You don't have to go *all the way* to Texas, but if you did, H wouldn't
mind, I am sure.

That's NB.....not ON. We don't get 10 feet of snow.......could get down
fairly low in temp tho. But we are allegedly on the same latitude as
just north of San Francisco. Must check that old wives tale out.

Not bad for a Yank......but still wrong. Don't feel bad......a US
teacher couldn't answer it. First trip he landed up in Hispanola
(Dominican)......second trip he landed on the north coast of Jamaica.
Third one, we think he landed in Cuba. He never once hit mainland USA.

I do believe your country's name is from the explorer "Amerigo
Vespucci".

It won't be long before the US demands passports to enter the US.
Forget what date they said in the papers this week. But coming soon.
And there are probably only about 2 places I want to see in the
US......and one is totally wrecked. New Orleans. The other is the
Loon's house.....grin. Not bloody likely that I will get an invite
tho......he can't handle *superior women*........bwa ha ha.

Sheesh, Loon. You are smarter than the average American bear. I will
have to look up the numbers but I think you could safely up our troop
deployment via NATO. And we are bitching at NATO to send more troops
in......the Brits and the Canucks are tired of doing Bush's job for him.
(evil grin)

We went in our usual peacekeeping role.....we are now fighting alongside
the US. (when they aren't strafing us with Warthogs)!!

I have a beautiful PowerPoint here on our Canadian soldiers who died.
An Indiana friend sent it to me. Too bad you don't have PP on your
computer. I will get Mike M. after you to put the reader on.

I will check the troop numbers tomorrow, but remember that Chretien was
deadset against going to Iraq. The wimp we have in there now has been
too kissyface with that cowboy you have in the white house. He will not
last as PM if he keeps that up.

Figgs........and that Floridian was born and bred there. Ain't no
snowbird.....our snowbirds are up on this stuff.

I remember the event, and where I was: on a ship--the USS Albany--in Boston
Harbor. But as to the coverage on TV, I've seen several features about John
Kennedy the last couple of days.

The "Florida woman" doesn't surprise me a bit--but she doesn't represent any
kind of majority.

I know something about you. I worked in Camberley for a year and a half. I
thought it was a neat place, with neat people. My boss kept me supplied
with history and government books, and I read papers and went to soccer
(excuse me, "football") games and went to Scotland and Wales. No tour could

My dear Joe.......you should know a hell of a lot more.

I AM CANADIAN!!!!

But being considered British/Scots/etc is probably as close as a Yank
will get to understanding what a Canadian is.

We have better beer and invented hockey and basketball and have the
McKenzie Bros. (not to mention Celine Dion, Jim Carrey, Paul Anka, and
so on).
