stop splash and boot dos
How was it again that we can stop the splash screen? And you can boot
into DOS without going to windows first. Is it with the win.ini file? It's been so long I forget. Bill |

A more short term method that still avoids having to boot into Windows and select MS-DOS from the shutdown menu, is to stab a digit at F8 during startup and select "boot to command prompt". -- __ __ #_ |\| | _# |

Otherwise in three seconds it would default to Windows full load. To do that you add these lines to the end of MSDOS.SYS not forgetting it is read only and then needs to be set that way again when done. BootMenu=1 BootMenuDelay=3 BootKeys=1 So between power down and reboot sequence my tired brain box would wander somewhat and I would forget what I wanted to do exactly. Seeing DOS would remind me to grab winint.ini file before it ran just for the record of it or to defeat it or whatever and then one hits the down arrow key within three seconds which selects the 2nd option in the DOS boot menu choice screen. At that point the timer is off and you get to select your choice at your own speed. DOS or Windows with every boot without being married to either and having both as needed. Almost sinful. |

BootMenu=1 BootMenuDelay=3 BootKeys=1 Neat, I'll make a note of that one. With the grub boot menu before it, there are already enough delays getting into Windows on my Win98 machine though. -- __ __ #_ |\| | _# |
