Default Second Edition Cabs on C:drive updated?

I upgraded to Windows second edition over two years ago. I have a
folder with Windows Cab files on C: drive, but I don't know if they are
the ones for Second edition. Would the Second edition upgrade
automatically have copied the cabs because I had this set up for
Windows98? How can I identify which ones they are?
To be sure should I empty the Cabs folder on C: and just copy the Cabs
file on the upgrade CD to the folder?

Are there any other left over files remnants from the upgrade that I
can now get rid of since Second Edition has been up and running for two
years?

You can usually tell by the creation date and time of the CABs.

1. Instal and upgrade routines do not automatically
copy CABs anywhere.
2. Second Edition CABS are filedated 1999 (probably
23/04/1999). If yours are dated earlier they are probably
first edition.
3. If in doubt, before deleting anything rename the
folder so automatic routines will not find it (I use prefix
x e.g. xCABS) and reboot. If you get any serious
error message you can restore things.

I right-clicked on several of the CABS/Properties/general tab and they
showed a creation date of March 17, 2003 with modified dates of April
23, 1999 with slightly varyind times around 3:03:00 P.M.

Don:

I looked at properties on several of the CABS and they are showing the
Modified: April 23, 1999 with various times. I then looked at several
CABs in my C:Win98 folder and compared them with properties on the
Windows98 Second Editon Updates CD and they are identical. So it looks
like I have the updated Cabs. I just don't remember copying them when
I did the upgrade. Thanks for the response.

I compared the dates to the Cab files on the upgrade CD and they are
identical. Looks like I updated the Cabs and everthing is okay. I just
don't remember doing it.

Thanks for responding.
