Default PCI Communication Device

When I turn on the PC it is trying to install a PCI Communication
Device and can't find it. How do I find out what driver I need to
download to make this work? The device driver cd that came with the
machine doesn't work. Please help.

"Communications" suggests this is your modem.

Do you know what this device is? Look in device manager for a device that
is not working properly - it will have an exclamation mark. See if there are
some details there about what the device is.

On the last sounds like you need to reinstall your video drivers.
On the PCI Comm. Device. It may be another function of your modem.
Mine has 4.
Once I load the Modem drivers and windows restarts. It will come up with "
Found New Hardware" Do the select your own and the browse bit. And select
your modem driver file. My modem also has a driver install for the Fax,voice
and sound.
Hope this helps?

I've seen a Winmodem start and fail its installation like this. Need to
know more about your hardware, such as what kind of modem, etc.

You do not have your modem drivers installed, nor do you have the correct video
drivers installed. Please give a little background about the computer....did you
recently do a reinstall of Windows? Did you ever have the correct drivers
installed? What brand and model of computer is it?

You may get some information about what Windows is finding in the hardware
by removing the device from Device Manager, then re-booting. The messages
will change and may be more informative.

Note Glen's advise about taking us back through your recent history a bit -
I suspect that there may have been a change to the hardware configuration
(possibly in BIOS setup) and Windows is now confused about just what
hardware exists in your system.
