RAM for Pentium II
Ram will not increase your download speed--DSL or a cable modem will.
However, 32 mb of ram is not really adequate for W98--64 mb is the minimum I would recommend. Try crucial.com for a price on SDRam. -- Regards Ron Badour, MS MVP for W98 Tips: http://home.satx.rr.com/badour Knowledge Base Info: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?pr=kbinfo "bryan" wrote in message ... I am running Win 98 with a Pentium(r)II Processor, Intel MMX(TM) with 32 MB of RAM. Is it possible to get more RAM for this older processor? IF so, will it increase my Internet download speed? I ran disk defrag and the speed of my computer is ok. I am trying to increase my internet access speed. I am using dialup. I am not budgeted for DSL or a new machine, so I have to keep what I have. Thanks in advance. Bryan |

Doesn't ring a bell here.
Look at the motherboard and see if model is visible. BE CAREFUL. "bryan" wrote in message ... Thanks for your reply. I really appreciate your help. My sales receipt says 350 MM buss PII 350. Thanks for your reply. My only problem is the download speed. If increasing
RAM will not help my download speed, then it is really not worth the effort. I am not going to add anything fancy to my current setup due to budget restrictions. I did go to Crucial.com and they did not list my computer (the company is called Inteva). You suggested trying SDRam. Will this help me? In any case, thank you all for your kind assistance. RAM for Pentium II
Hi Bryan,
.......How do I check the connect speed? More than likely when you're connected there's a small phone icon, or two little computers or something along those lines that shows on your task bar. Try right clicking on that little icon and see if an option like status comes up. ---==X={}=X==--- Jim Self AVIATION ANIMATION, the internet's largest depository. http://avanimation.avsupport.com Your only internet source for spiral staircase plans. http://jself.com/stair/Stair.htm Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Technical Counselor |
