Unable to delete apps on desktop
I downloaded firmware updates to my Thinkpad desktop and
after running the apps (to make diskettes), I am unable to delete them. I have right clicked the icons to bring up the properties menu and unchecked all the bottom boxes and the apps still cannot be deleted. How can I remove these apps from my desktop and computer? The error message that comes up whenever I attempt to delete them is: "Cannot delete fwdv1301:Access is denied Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and thet the file is not currently in use" |

Unable to delete apps on desktop
Startup in DOS and delete them. Take not of any folders/files DOS names in the path
first as you will need to use them in DOS. -- Brian A. Jack of all trades, Master of none. One can never truly be a master as there is always more to learn. "jtc218" wrote in message ... Would you be kind enough to walk me through your
solution? I do not know enough about DOS to carry out your suggestion. Thank you. -----Original Message----- Startup in DOS and delete them. Unable to delete apps on desktop
First right click the file on the desktop, click Properties, write down the DOS name
shown. Should be fwdv1301 if it has no extension or fwdv13~1.ext, .ext = extension type ie: .zip, .exe etc. Reboot Press and hold down the CTRL key at beginning of boot when you see the POST screen ( Mem count and BIOS drive detection) and before the Starting Windows screen. Release the CTRL key when you get the boot menu. Press 5 ( DOS Command Prompt only) or use the down arrow to get to 5 and press Enter. At the prompt type: attrib -s -h -r c:\windows\desktop\filename.exttype Note spaces after attrib, -s, -h, and -r. Replace the filename and extension with yours. At the Prompt Type: del c:\windows\desktop\Filename.exttype and press enter. Note space after del. Replace the filename and extension with yours. If all goes well and you get no errors, at the prompt type: win and press Enter to boot back to Windows. -- Brian A. Jack of all trades, Master of none.
