Default Bad registry HELP HELP!!

Hi Carol,
From a DOS prompt, type SCANREG /RESTORE (there is a space between SCANREG
and the /), and hit Enter. It should bring up a screen offering you choices
of previous "good" copies of your Registry you can restore.
Post back and let us know how that works.

My home computer will not boot into Windows. It tells me that the
registry is bad. It said to run SCANREG from DOS. I did that but it
didn't help. I don't know what to do.)

Do I have to reinstall Windows 98? Is it difficult? If I do what
will happen to all of the applications I have on the system. I have
Windows 98 SE. I have about four years worth of programs on there.

Help please.

Default Bad registry HELP HELP!!

I was able to restore an old registry. Now the registry error is gone
but now when I restart it goes into DOS. I get an error "This program
cannot be run in DOS mode". I tried 'win /xs' and 'exit' but neither
work. The 'win /xs' command gets the same error. I tried renaming
the autoexec.bat and config.sys files but got the same error plus
"file creation error".

Now what? I'm beside myself.
