Joe,
NEWDOT This is an intrusive parasite that does little more than cripple your browsing and can download and run arbitrary code of NetCr$pNet's choosing on your PC without your permission. First use Add/Remove Programs and remove New.net. Once you have done that go to LavaSoft's site (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/) and get yourself a copy of the free AdAware and run it and/or SpyBot (http://www.safer-networking.org/) and perhaps also BHO Demon and rid yourself of this odious junk and other similar parasites that do nothing to enhance your use of your computer. See also http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/NewDotNet.html Some details are contained in MS KB 320162 - "Internet Explorer Stops Responding or the Home Page Takes a Long Time to Open" (http://support.microsoft.com?kbid=320162) and also 302463 - "Error Message: Iexplore Caused an Invalid Page Fault in Module Unknown with SaveNow or New.net Installed" (http://support.microsoft.com?kbid=302463). Note that in a few hours a moronic NewCr$pNet representative may post more of their lies to this thread. My advice is to ignore them, they are interested in nothing more than peddling their unwelcome software on unsuspecting users. If the net community and ICANN had wanted the top level domains sold by Cr$pnet then ICANN would have set them up accordingly but they didn't so NewCr$p decide instead to break with internet standards and meddle with your PC and wreck your browsing. IMO such companies and all those involved in them should be taken to court and prosecuted for their unwelcome intrusions Just is case you also have a new version of the CoolWebSearch parasite you might want to download and run the CWShredder which targets that specific parasite. Unfortunately neither AdAware or SpyBot seem to be able as yet to fully detect all the various versions of the CoolWebSearch parasite as it keeps changing. For more details of the CoolWebSearch parasite see http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/cwschronicles.html. CWShredder, merijn's removal tool, can be downloaded from either: http://www.zerosrealm.com/downloads/CWShredder.zip or http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/cwshredder.zip Other useful tools include BHODemon (http://www.definitivesolutions.com/bhodemon.htm that checks for unwanted Browser Help Objects and SpywareBlaster (http://www.wilderssecurity.net/spywareblaster.html) which can help prevent some parasites getting a grip on your PC. --? NewCr%pNet strikes again!
Mike M will probably be along soon with his take on it, but meanwhile, you could try using their uninstaller (you never know - it may even work!) http://www.newdotnet.com/#remove Also download AdAware from www.lavasoftusa.com, install, update, and run it to remove spyware, adware, and other such nasties from your system. at the risk of annoyiong the NDN bloodhounds, I'll state categorically that NDN is total, unmitigated CR%P - and spyware to boot! (If I carry on much longer, I'm likely to tell you what I *really* think! - so I'll stop nowg) -- Noel Paton (MS-MVP 2002-2004, Win9x) Nil Carborundum Illegitemi http://www.btinternet.com/~winnoel/millsrpch.htm Please read http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm on how to post messages to NG's or http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/f.../Mar27pmvp.asp "Joe" wrote in message ...
