Can see network, can't see Web pages
My Win 98 machine is connected to company LAN. I can see the server and it's
drives, other computers on the network, etc, but I can not see any web pages. When I open Internet Explorer I receive a "The page cannot be displayed" error. I can ping the company server as well as google's IP address and their full name (www.google.com) successfully. Any suggestions? -- Thank you, JG |

Network gateway/router/hub has a rule made concerning internet access, it is
probably set to only allow permitted subnet addresses access. Open router config dialog, amend rule to add the IP of the new pc to the permitted list -- Adaware http://www.lavasoft.de spybot http://security.kolla.de AVG free antivirus http://www.grisoft.com Etrust/Vet/CA.online Antivirus scan http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/virusinfo/scan.aspx Panda online AntiVirus scan http://www.pandasoftware.com/ActiveScan/ Catalog of removal tools (1) http://www.pandasoftware.com/download/utilities/ Catalog of removal tools (2) http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/n...aspx?CID=40387 Blocking Unwanted Parasites with a Hosts file http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm links provided as a courtesy, read all instructions on the pages before use Grateful thanks to the authors and webmasters _ "JG" wrote in message ...
