OPERATING SYSTEM NOT FOUND
I started getting this after the computer froze and I rebooted it. I tried
SYS C with the startup floppy, nothing. I also ran scan disk and hard drive utility and I don't believe the drive is defective. I had another drive in the PC as slave and changed it to master and the same thing happens. The CMOS battery is ok as well. I have no idea how this happened or what to try! Thanks |

Do you get any beeps when you boot up? Perhaps you need to let your BIOS re-find your HDDs. |

I only get to the message "Operating System not found" . I will try the
ribbon cable. Yes, I do get beep right when the message appears. The Bios does show the hard drive in the listings. "Buffalo" wrote: "bgosper" wrote in message ... If you boot off the Win98 Emergency Boot Disk, can you see drive "C:" ?
If not.... Go to the hard disk manufacturer's web site and download their diagnostic software respective to your hard disk. After the test, you will know if the hard disk is bad or not..
