Default System restore

Hi all, I'm having a spot of trouble with my computer, running slow, programs
slow or won't load, running low on resources, can't download email, etc. so i
thought i would do a system restore to a manual restore point created on Dec
24 2005. However when i open system restore and choose "restore my computer
to an earlier time" i cant get back to last month by clicking the back
button. I am running ME, avast, mcafee security package, spybot s&d, adaware.
Can anyone tell me how i may be able to get back to that last manual
restore point please.

TIA Rod

Default System restore

If your Calendar doesn't go back that far, then I'm afraid you don't have a
restore point to go back to

As to why this happened, there are a number of possible reasons -
(in no particular order)
1) you changed/added/removed a hard drive
2) System Restore ran out of space, and shut down
3) You've reset System Restore
4) System Restore has FIFO'd out your older points, because you've
installed/removed a lot of software and/or your SR allocation is very small.
5) malware can occasionally cause the symptoms you're seeing - repeatedly
overwriting system files, with the result that the SR archive overflows,
and/or FIFO's out older points.

You may have a virus/spyware hijack

download the Stinger from here and run it to make sure that A-V-disabling
viruses are not present on your PC
http://vil.mcafeesecurity.com/vil/averttools.asp

- update your virus scanner and run a full system scan of all files.

Reboot to Safe Mode and run CWShredder - to remove variants of the
CoolWebSearch hijacker.

Use CWShredder, the removal tool:

download AdAware SE Personal Edition from www.lavasoftusa.com, install,
update, and run it to remove spyware, adware, and other such nasties from
your system.
