Default How to format drive C:? HELP

I am scraping an old PC with WIndows ME. To avoid any
problems, I would like to format drive c:? How can I do
it? Windows is not allowing me to format the drive
from "my computor" because it's in use.

You cannot format the drive containing the operating system when still using
that system. You can only do this from a DOS prompt after booting from a
floppy.

For details of how to fdisk and format see the Microsoft Knowledge Base
article 255867 - "How to Use the Fdisk Tool and the Format Tool to Partition
or Repartition a Hard Disk" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=255867) as
well as the file CLEANHD.TXT which is in the Win 9x folder on the Win Me CD.

Bill, switch to /DOS mode type ( FORMAT/S) your sys

may not need the s, thats for sys files. Be sure you have
a start up disk, good luck
