It's not scsi1hip, it's scsi1hlp...the filename is scsi1hlp.vxd
If you can start Windows in either normal mode or Safe Mode, open Windows Explorer and navigate to the C:\Windows\System\iosubsys folder, and rename the SCSI1HLP.VxD file to SCSI1HLP.VX_, or SCSI1HLP.BAD, then restart. -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP Shell/User, A+ http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "gary" wrote in message ... i have just downloaded windows media player for windows 98, on reboot the following message comes up an exception OE has occurred at 0028:C18327B3 in vxd scsi1hip (03) + 00000583 this was called from 0028:c1832738 in vxd scsi1hip(03) + 00000508 the pc only responds in safemode, i have tried to remove the program from the add / remove hardware but it is not listed |

put finger to keyboard and composed: It's not scsi1hip, it's scsi1hlp...the filename is scsi1hlp.vxd If you can start Windows in either normal mode or Safe Mode, open Windows Explorer and navigate to the C:\Windows\System\iosubsys folder, and rename the SCSI1HLP.VxD file to SCSI1HLP.VX_, or SCSI1HLP.BAD, then restart. I use Tweakui's "faultlog" feature. It allows errors such as the OP's to be automatically logged to file. For one thing, this makes it easy to copy and paste the exact message into one's newsreader. As a bonus, the OP wouldn't even need to use the Shift key. The OP can create the relevant registry entry by using Notepad to paste the following 4 lines into a faultlog.reg file. ================================================== ================ REGEDIT4 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Fault] "LogFile"="C:\\WINDOWS\\FAULTLOG.TXT" ================================================== ================ If required, edit "WINDOWS" to reflect the winbootdir for your setup. Click on the .reg file to import its contents into the registry. -- Franc Zabkar Please remove one 'i' from my address when replying by email. |

Yes, I have been using that regedit since long before I installed TweakUI. ;-)
Unfortunately, though, blue screen errors, such as Fatal Exceptions, are not logged. The faultlog feature only logs the details of "illegal operation" type error messages. -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP Shell/User, A+ http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "Franc Zabkar" wrote in message ...
