Default Keyboard problem

I am having a problem when typing. Some of the keys cause multiple
characters to appear. Here is the unedited version of what I just
typed:

I am hvahvinbgf a pyronblem whvenb t5yrpeinbgf. Some ogf t5vhe keyrs
cause mult5iple chvayract5eyrs t5o appeayr.

This is the second time this has happened. The first time was a couple
of months ago. At that time, the problem disappeared as I was in the
process of preparing a post to ask if anyone has seen this problem
and/or knows how to fix it. (I was hoping that the problem would
disappear this time while posting. But, alas, that has not happened.)

Is this a sign that my keyboard is going bad? (I don't have another
keynboard or I'd swap this one out to see.) The keyboard came with my
Compaq Presario 5000 5WV254 that I bought in November 2000.

Here is a list of some of the problem keys:

b - nb
f - gf
g - gf
h - hv
n - nb
r - yr
t - t5
v - hv
y - yr

4 - 74
5 - t5
7 - 74

GFee, it5 suyre was gfunb pyrepayrinbgf t5vhis post5!
(Gee, it sure was fun preparing this post!)

Almost certainly your keyboard is going bad - when did you spill coffee/beer
on it?

Try blowing the dust-bunnies out with the 'wrong end' of a vacuum cleaner,
or an airline..
borrow another keyboard for 10 minutes to check.
buy another keyboard - they're less than $10/£5 for a basic keyboard

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll get the vacuum out tomorrow - I've got

keyboard. Basic is all I need anyway, so I guess I can afford $10.)

My back hurt so much from moving snow yesterday that I couldn't sleep, so I
got up to avoid waking my better part so early.
Had I awakened her, I would be hurting in many more places ...

I already feel much better.
Txs to you and Nevans for noticing.
On Cape Cod, this was a "hundred year storm".
