Utility to save file list with long file names
Does anyone know of a handy utility which can save the list of folders and files
in a directory with their long file names? The DIR command only outputs 8.3 filenames. Thanks, Ivan |

I like and use Print Folder.
I see Jim has it still listed at his website half way down under the P's http://aumha.org/freeware/freeware.htm I see it's also still at the original website at the bottom of the page: http://no-nonsense-software.com/freeware/ Rick .....ps, I use the pro version and so hopefully the regular version has LFN too. http://no-nonsense-software.com/printfolder/ Ivan Bútora wrote: Does anyone know of a handy utility which can save the list of folders and files in a directory with their long file names? Thanks, I'll check some of those links.
By the way, looking he http://www.creativelement.com/powertools/faq.html#02 I wonder how or why someone would write an app that is compatible with Me, but not 98? Weren't there only very few new APIs on Windows Me? In , Gary S. Thanks, Rick. Seems like the free version doesn't do subfolders, though.

Isn't this what xxcopy.exe (3rd part prog. i.e. not an MS DOS external),
supposed to do ? ....there was an explanation on a /? switch somewhere that explained where the dos 8.3 / long-filename table - file was placed or created. ....never touched it with a barge-pole since ! ....years ago I stupidly relied on it to do what it promised, i.e. copy all a drives files / root and sub -directories & files and it collapsed horribly !!!!!!!! ...Hark ! ....listen to that approaching stampede of xxcopy.exe users who claim to have never had xxcopy.exe let them down !! regards, Richard "Ivan Bútora" wrote in message ... Franc, I see a period after %temp% and before the following backslash.
Doesn't seem right. Typo? -- Gary S. Terhune MS-MVP Shell/User http://grystmill.com/articles/cleanboot.htm http://grystmill.com/articles/security.htm "Franc Zabkar" wrote in message ...
