Registry problems
A recent attempt to use my scanner resulted in an error
message "Stiaspi.dll not found. Please reinstall driver." Attempts to do just that return a message "Error in getting the TWAIN data source." I have checked the connections and not found a problem. The problem originated from the time my son loaded an infra red programme to download data from his mobile phone. This caused so many problems with freezing, I removed it. I have tried to fix the problem via Norton SystemWorks but despite it saying the registry problem has been fixed, it remains. I have also tried to defrag but it will not start. Any suggestions, please? |

Registry problems
If the instruction is to re-install the driver, I would be inclined to
believe it. Exactly what is the device, what is the driver that you are trying to re-install, what is the exact error message, and when in the install process does it occur? -- Jeff Richards MS MVP (DTS) " wrote in message ... Registry problems
Jeff, The device is an ACER 640U scanner, which I have re-
installed a couple of times, obviously without success. The message which occurs whenever I try to use the scanner, is "Stiaspi.dll not found. Please re-install the driver". Once OK is clicked, the next message is "Error in getting the TWAIN data source. Check if properly connected or re-select from data drop down list". There is no other item to select from the drop down list. As I say, I have tried to fix it with Norton SystemWorks one button scan but once it has scanned the Registry it says the problem has been fixed and begins to "optomise the registry". As this little window begins to activate, another window appears saying "An error (3) occurred while enumerating your registry. there will be no changes made to your registry and the registry scan will end". I should also mention that the 'one button scan' on NSW will only check the Registry and then reports all other checks as "scan interrupted", even though I have not done so. Cheers, Lyndsay -----Original Message----- If the instruction is to re-install the driver, I would be inclined to believe it. NSW can't assist with this type of error, although it's possible that the
errors that NSW is reporting are from the same or a similar cause. Can you please confirm that the software installation completes without error. I believe that the procedure for this device requires you to do the installation before plugging in the scanner - this is worth checking, and if it is the required procedure and you aren't doing it then that may be the problem. What exactly are you doing to initiate the scan? For instance, are you using the 'Acquire' option from an application, such as your graphics application, or are you running the scan utility provided with the scanner? Whichever, try the other. You can download the required file at a number of places, such as http://members.driverguide.com/drive...driverid=85976 Copy it to the \Windows\System folder. Note, however, that there are likely many versions of this file and the best one to be using is the one that was supplied with your scanner, if you can locate it amongst the installation files. This scanner is actually a MiraScan 342U - you might get some information searching under that model number. Have you checked with Acer that you have the latest version of the drivers? http://www.benq.com/drivers/imaging_drivers.html You can uninstall the scanner and re-install it, but if you do then search in Add/Remove Programs for an option to uninstall the TWAIN drivers, and if you find it then remove them also. -- Jeff Richards MS MVP (DTS) "Lyndsay" wrote in message ...
