This was a question posted in WinXPNews and I hope it
answers your question and they don't get mad that I copied a piece of their writing. Their answer is so much better than mine would have been. Why Can't I Get Pictures in HTML E-mail Messages? Question: I recently installed Outlook 2003. I was using an old version of Outlook Express before. Why can I no longer get pictures in the body of e-mail messages? - P.R. Answer: This is a security setting in Outlook. Some spammers include graphics files in e-mail messages because this requires you to download the graphic from their server, thus verifying that your e-mail address is valid. By default, Outlook 2003 blocks automatic download of pictures. The blocked pictures will be represented by a small box with a red X. You can download the pictures in a particular message by right clicking the red X and selecting to download the picture. You can also change this setting for all messages so that all pictures will be downloaded. To do that, in Outlook click Tools | Options and go to the Security tab. Under "Download Pictures" (just past the middle of the page), click the button that says Change Automatic Download Settings. Uncheck the box that says Don't Download Pictures or Other Content Automatically in HTML E-mail. Another solution, if you only want to get pictures from certain senders, is to place those senders in your Safe Senders and Safe Recipients list. To do this, click Tools | Options and click the Junk E-mail button. Click the Safe Senders tab, click Add, and enter the e-mail address of the sender from whom you want to receive pictures in the body of e-mail messages. -----Original Message----- why do I get little red X's in alot of web pages instead of icons or thumbs ? tom . |

Steve.......that is just fine if you are using XP.....but we are not.
I don't have Outlook either. I get the red X's in IE usually, but sometimes in OE and I did get an answer once and it was to do with HTML I believe. But thanks for trying.....I figure it is a security setting in IE, but haven't played with it to see. Heather "Steve" wrote in message ...
