Activate tray icon from DOS batch file
Hi everybody
I use NotePad a lot including for posts such as this. However, I really regret the fact that it doesn't have a SpellChecker. So, I use TinySpell along with NotePad. However, to avoid having to open more than one program just to run NotePad with the SpellChecker, I have set up a small batch file which includes the paths to the .exe files for both. While this works, it's still missing something. This is that when TinySpell opens, it puts an icon in the tray. This icon (and NOT the desktop icon) must be right-clicked and the command "Open Spelling Window" chosen to provide a small window which highlights misspelled words as they occur. Note that the "Open Spelling Window" option can be chosen also by typing "O" after right-clicking on the tray icon. For some days I have tried to get that Spelling Window to open from the batch file without success. What I can't seem to be able to do is to simulate a right-click on the TinySpell tray icon in DOS. Can anybody point me in the right direction? TIA Paul |

I don't understand why you don't use the program's own options to start at
boot, which puts the icon into the System tray immediately - then it's always ready when you open notepad in the first place! -- Noel Paton (MS-MVP 2002-2006, Windows) Nil Carborundum Illegitemi http://www.crashfixpc.com/millsrpch.htm http://tinyurl.com/6oztj Please read http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm on how to post messages to NG's "PaulFXH" wrote in message oups.com... Hi Noel Thanks for your reply. Actually, TinySpell does start up with the boot. But, as there are two other users of this computer who tend to turn it off, in general it's not running when I get back to my account. Nevertheless, even if it were running when I wanted to use NotePad, I would still have to right-click the TinySpell tray icon to bring up the Spelling Window. It is this latter step that I have endeavored to represent in the DOS batch file with spectacular lack of success so far. I have the impression that this will involve the RUNDLL or RUNDLL32 functions but that is about as far as I have gotten so far. I would really welcome any suggestions.
