PC freezing for short periods when browsing - Long - sorry.
I'm not sure if this is the correct newsgroup, but here we go.
My system tends to seize/freeze for short periods whilst browsing the net (doesn't happen off the net at all, even when displaying avi files). Certain sites cause the seizing more than others, like; http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/motorhome-list or any page which has moving pictures. Its not guaranteed to seize, but it's a common occurrence with moving picture sites, again more likely the longer I've been on the net. My first reaction was that the seizing was caused by the graphics card (was only a basic video card, either 4 or 8 MB) so up-rated to a 64MB NVIDIA card without any change to the seizing I have run various programs to check for virus's and Trojans without finding anything. I have tried different browsers, again without any difference. Another thought was the modem, but after downloading the 'sites' it can seize, so not sure it likely to be the modem. I can continue to browse the web whilst carrying out several file downloads without problems (as long as I don't visit problem sites like Yahoo) May I thank anyone who has taken the time to read this and possibly help. It is possible that some may be using Flash player type graphics, if you do
not have an up to date player that could cause issues. The flash player is another free download, Iam thinking since you do ok with the .avi files your media player(s) should be sound, a lot of sites use flash these days, worth a try. I did check the site, the only moving pic types were flash player 7, here is the link to the free player, give it a try and let us know if it helped. http://www.macromedia.com/software/flashplayer/ "Air Rider" wrote: I'm not sure if this is the correct newsgroup, but here we go. Hi,
I've downloaded the flash player and found its improved the situation no end, however it still does it a bit. If there's anything else you can think of I would be grateful. Updated Flash
Updated graphics card drivers The browsing on Yahoo groups is better, but everything else has now deteriorated. Have also tried altering the hardware acceleration on various settings which make it worse when on 'none' "Tired of crud customer support" . com wrote in message ...
