Did you use FDISK (or the utility diskette/CD) that came with the drive to
prepare it for holding data before starting Windows? -- Richard G. Harper [MVP Win9x] * PLEASE post all messages and replies in the newsgroups * for the benefit of all. The drive will not be seen until it is partitioned. You do this using fdisk.
After being partitioned the drive will be seen (get a drive letter assigned)the partition will need to be formatted prior to use. Note: If when using fdisk you do not see the whole drive then try this MS articel foir an fdisk update. (you may also use the utility that came with the drive) http://support.microsoft.com/default...44&Product=w98 -- Jon Hildrum DTS MVP www.hildrum.com "jimmy" wrote in message ... recently i bought an 80 GB HDD. after i had correctly installed every cable and set the jumpers the correct way i found that my computer could not see and name the new, unformated hard disk! how can i format this new hard disk? i have windows xp 2002. thank u in advance. |
