Ping: Mart
Hello Mart (from Vista):
Remember you being an 'AVG' fan and me preferring 'Avast', pertaining to 'ME'? Now that I am in WinVista I wound up installing AVG, after removing McAfee and it is performing nicely. Harry. |

Hey H,
I have put Avast! on three Vista machines with no problems out of any of them. I think Avast! and AVG are very comparable. Heirloom, old and either it is foggy outside or my eyes are going "webster72n" wrote in message ... Hi Harry - and HL (long time, no speak, or in HL speak - Good to hear your
face!). BTW - Whatever happened to Jack Martinelli? Sorry, I digress. Yes, I've got AVG (free) running without any problems on my Vista and XP PC's. I only run full scans once a week which seem to have kept me safe. Regarding AVG 7.5xx (for Win9x), I read in the Win98 Group (Glen Ventura, aka glee) that the definition updates will cease at the end of February. What a shame, but as that being the case, I'll probably wait to see what effect the last update has - i.e., will it give me a permanent nag screen? - or will I be able to live with it. Otherwise I will probably (attempt to) install Avast. Is Win9x still being targeted? I've lived with AVG for as long as I can remember and it's never let me down. I'll be sorry to lose it. Snowstorm on the way by midnight.....so what else is new?? I see you
are getting some very cold weather in Texas, Mr. Loon. Off to the Endodontist in the morning and scared half to death. He will be doing a root canal, after the now-fired dentist botched the first one, like in the freezing didn't work........and I am one scared puppy. If he put me out totally, I would be happier. But that is not the case. See you this time tomorrow and a few "hail marys" might help, grin. Cheers....Figgs (hate dentists.....hate, hate hate!!!!) "Heirloom" wrote in message ... Yeah, a little 'coolish' outside and expecting some freezing rain overnight,
however, a warming trend after that. All of the ice, if we get any, will be gone by afternoon. Best wishes on your endo, Figgs! Ah! yes of course - "Good to read your face." - I should have remembered.
The little grey cells are fading fast here. Jack it may have been the chili that got him Let's hope that it hasn't got Jack just yet and there'll still be plenty of fresh air left for him (us??) to enjoy quite a few more chilli yet. Just need to remember to stay up-wind of him. Mart "Heirloom" wrote in message ... Ummmm, that would be "Good to read your face." And Jack, I haven't heard from him in years. Yeah, Mart....the ol' grey cells must be on the decline.........if I am
'up-wind' of him, that would make him 'down-wind' from me and put him directly in the danger zone! Heirloom, old and think it is 'chili' or 'chilly'....one ain't good cold "Mart" wrote in message ... Yeah, of all the groups I visited to far, this is the best one yet and hope
we can keep it alive. Just got over what I thought was a major disaster with my Vista, but in the end and with the help of Dell Support I was able to easily save the day, including my 'hard work' (about a month's worth). Without my ME Box it would have been much more complicated. I thought ME was good to fix itself, but Vista is way ahead. Where Avast is concerned, I was under the impression it interfered with SR, yet obviously I was wrong, that is only in WinME, and AVG is just as good. Now I have both, except in a different galaxy. Here's to a long and happy life.... Harry. "Mart" wrote in message ... Hi Harry - and HL (long time, no speak, or in HL speak - Good to hear your face!). BTW - Whatever happened to Jack Martinelli?
