Good question. Let us know when you've found the answer, OK, s?

But I understand that a w95 safe boot is not the same as a
w98 safe boot.

I realize that. All I'm saying is that what you are looking for is =
apparently not easy to find in the KB--and perhaps isn't even in there. =
Might be in the Windows 98 Resource Kit, though danged if I can find it.
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/d...all/reskit/en=
-us/default.mspx

Might find something of interest in this Helpdesk Webcast..
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=3D324609

Otherwise, all I can say is that nobody ever said finding MS =
documentation is always easy. It isn't. Fact is, I've never seen the =
document you are assuming exists.

Bill,

If you mean the various ways to enter Windows Safe Mode:

How do I start my computer in Safe Mode?
http://support.ap.dell.com/ap/en/kb/...p?DN=FA1027295

It's a Dell article but other than the reference to the Dell logo
it's the same. It covers Win98 to XP.

Additionally, you can hold down the F5 key when booting until you
see the mouse cursor hourglass.

Regards,
