If I install a newer version of Netscape over the one I have, will it
wipe out my bookmarks? |

Have you asked this question in a Netscape forum, that would be something
they would know as it is not a WinME problem. Joan Karen wrote: If I install a newer version of Netscape over the one I have, will it wipe out my bookmarks? |

Check your Usenet news server such as the one you are using to access this
newsgroup. You should find many netscape newsgroups including netscape.public.general and netscape.public.mozilla.browser. I can see over 110 netscape groups. -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP Karen wrote: I couldn't find a Netscape forum - can you tell me where? |

I would strongly recommend Mozilla rather than Netscape, though. Mozilla = is=20 a derivative of Netscape, written by the same people and containing much = of=20 the same code. What version of Netscape are you trying to install? Actually, Netscape is a derivative of Mozilla. I couldn't find a Netscape forum - can you tell me where? This should work: news.mozilla.org Just set up a new account for this server. Also, unless you are using Netscape to access AOL, CompuServe 2000, or Netscape Webmail servers, you would probably be better off with the latest build of Mozilla, instead. You can remove Netscape, install Mozilla, and then import your Netscape settings into Mozilla. If Mozilla wants to use the Netscape user profile, I would not let it. Set up a new user profile and import the Netscape settings. -- Norman ~Win dain a lotica, En vai tu ri, Si lo ta ~Fin dein a loluca, En dragu a sei lain ~Vi fa-ru les shutai am, En riga-lint |

If I install a newer version of Netscape over the one I have, will it wipe out my bookmarks? No. An overinstall only changes the program files, not the configuration files. Your bookmarks, cookies, history, and passwords are not stored in the same folders as the application files. For Windows Me (and other 9x OSes) the location of the configurations, or Profile, is C:\Windows\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\Profile_Name\random.slt. I don't know the exact location on Windows 2K/XP, but it would be that OS analogue of the location which I gave. -- Norman ~A dream, dream, no dream ~Voices of the night traverse the forest ~A dream, dream, no dream ~Good night my good child |
