Default Word 2000

I have Windows ME on my computer and have Microsoft Works
Suite. We have used it for the last 4 years. I now
cannot access Word 2000, I get a weird black and white
screen that comes up and says that my resources are low
and that winword is not responding. I am not very good
with computers and would appreciate any help. Thank you .

This sounds as if you may have a corrupted Word template. Using Explorer's
Search look for all instances of the file normal.dot and rename them
normal.bak and then retry opening Word. If that solves the problem a new
default template file will automatically be recreated and you can delete the
files you renamed.

For more details of this suggested fix see MS KB 307814 - "WD: Error Message:
System Is Dangerously Low on Resources"

Do a search for files named Normal.dot on your PC - rename all found to
Normal.jnk
reboot, and open Word again - that should rebuild the Normal.dot template
file, and fix your problem

I am having exactly the same problem, started about a
week ago. I have reinstalled, fixed, installed all
windows updates, removed spyware, etc.

And the fix is almost certainly going to the same as has already been posted
to the original posted by both Noel and myself. Did you read it?
