Windows 98 Backup Disk? Do you mean a startup floppy? OR
the Windows 98 Installation Disk?

What is the exact message?

More than likely it is the Windows 98 Installation disk. If
it is the startup floppy, you need to create one, though it
may be possible that you can do the same thing with your 98
Installation disk, it all depends upon the type of disk. If
not:

Contol Panel Add/Remove StartUp Disk (tab) Create Disk

Search for files named *.CAB. If you find a bunch of them
in a folder, then that's your installation folder and
that's where the system should be looking for its
installation files. If you don't find a folder with lots
of these files in it then you need a setup/installation
CD. Perhaps the shop that sold you the machine has a
spare one, or perhaps you can find one at e-Bay.
