setup was unable to install all the components.
when. if i try to downloan another update, it won't let
me because the 1st one has not finished

If you are talking about IE 6 upgrade mine never finishes
either. Always says a previous installation did not
complete.

Perhaps because you have reinstalled Win Me over itself without first removing
IE6? This would then have installed IE5.5 whilst still leaving remnants
relating to your previous IE6 install in the registry.

If this is the case you might want to have a look at MS KB 312451 - "How to
Remove Internet Explorer 6 by Reinstalling Windows"
(http://support.microsoft.com?kbid=312451) and also KB 293907 - "How to
Uninstall Internet Explorer 6" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=293907).
