Default Help - My W98SE freezes up

My arch-enemy has posted a thread in
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general under subject
Need help - suffering from Virtual Memory problem (SP2)

In which he describes his problem whereby virtual memory is gobbled up
until eventually his WXP system fails (freezes).
I find that my W98SE system will be sitting idle for an hour or two
with only the desktop displayed, and very few background applications
running, at which time my system freezes up requiring me to power down
and reboot.

I can find no virtual memory controls similar to the dynamic he
describes in his WXP. Certainly nothing like the Task Manager 'commit
charge' he mentions. Nor do I find LIBUPDAT in the W98 Task Manager
Window. But then, the W98 Task Manager only shows applications I
think. All I find is that my virtual memory is set to use up full
free HDD space, or at least that is how I interpret things.

I do find two registry entries involving LIBUPDAT, like

[Hkey Current
User]]\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explore r\Doc Find
Spec MRU with LIBUPDATE.EXE, but I don't know if I should delete them
or if they are even my problem.

Does anyone have anything to say on this?
