No disconnect if idle option available
I have become increasingly infuriated by the fact that I
cannot change my "disconnect if idle" time interval on Windows 98. When I go to the place that I need to change the value, the option is there but greyed out and I can't access it. Anybody else had that problem? I am using a bog standard modem connecting to Freeserve Anytime |

Hi Michael,
You have a registry restriction in effect; check out the registry keys: HKCU\Software\Policies\ Microsoft\ Internet Explorer\Control Panel HKCU\Software\ Policies\ Microsoft\ Internet Explorer\Restrictions I'm not sure what the exact DWORD would be, but it will be easily recognisable. It would be appreciated if you post back the results of your findings. When you find the DWORD, set to zero instead of one. -- Hyperlinks are used to ensure advice remains current _______________________________________ Sandi - Microsoft MVP since 1999 (IE/OE) http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/ Michael Clark wrote: I have become increasingly infuriated by the fact that I cannot change my "disconnect if idle" time interval on Windows 98. I'll be able to try this at the weekend and will post an update early next week. -----Original Message----- Hi Michael, You have a registry restriction in effect; check out the registry keys: HKCU\Software\Policies\ Microsoft\ Internet Explorer\Control Panel HKCU\Software\ Policies\ Microsoft\ Internet Explorer\Restrictions I'm not sure what the exact DWORD would be, but it will be easily recognisable. Didn't Freeserve change there name to Wannadoo, I'll take it you asked them and they said We don't wannadoo. LOL. Have you tried uninstalling your modem rebooting Windows should reinstall the driver then you can check your settings. "Michael Clark" wrote in message ...
