Dual booting
I have my ME os on one hard drive and another drive has XP
installed. Currently, I have to unplug one when I want to use the other. What must I do to plug in both hard drives and have a dual boot system. I have Partition Magic. Must I reinstall XP, or, can I just plug it in and use Partition M. to set it up? My research, on the Net, has throughly confused me. Hoping to get some clear info. here. Thanks for any help. |

Dual booting
With your current setup you will almost certainly need an add-on third-party
boot manager to handle the problem. It is possible that you could connect the WinMe hard drive as a master drive, the WinXP drive as a slave drive, and if you have a real WindowsXP CD (not a restore or recovery CD) use the Recovery Console to fix things - but it's also possible that you could lose the contents of one or both drives. -- Richard G. Dual booting
Since you have Partition Magic check out that you also have Boot Magic.
BM is a boot manager and can be configured so as to present you with a menu on boot up from which you select the operating system to be started. If you use BM you shouldn't have to reinstall either operating system. Alternatively you could use Microsoft's boot manager that is built in to XP but AFAIK you would need to reinstall XP to make this operative. In my case I now use BootItNG as my boot manager (and partition manager and drive image application) but previously used Boot Magic to boot a system that multi-booted between Win98SE, Win Me and XP Pro. -- Mike Maltby Ed Mc wrote: I have my ME os on one hard drive and another drive has XP installed.
