| Thank you Glen for your reply - I really appreciate the
| help. Have a good day.

| Turn off the debugger, as Eric said, & hopefully all
| will be well...
|
| "Control Panel, Internet Options, Advanced tab, Browsing
| section".
| (a) Check "Disable script debugging".
| (b) Uncheck "Display a notification about every script
| error".
|
| I'm thinking the following may also be applicable to
| your condition...
| "START, Find, F/F, fff*". Got any, with a name that is
| tons long?
| Then...
|
| .......Quote.........
| You find that you are accumulating a lot of temporary
| files in your
| Windows directory that start with fff and have a .tmp
| extension, similar
| to this:
|
| fff137e3_{3BC6A120-EFC3-11D2-96F7-D0634EC10000}.tmp
| fff137e3_{3BC6A121-EFC3-11D2-96F7-D0634EC10000}.tmp
|
| These files are created by a bug in certain versions of
| MDM.EXE....two
| every time it is loaded.
| See he
| OFF2000: Files Whose Name Begins with 'fff' Appear in
| Windows Folder"

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=221438
|
| OFF: How to Turn Off Machine Debug Manager, Mdm.exe
| http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=321410
|
| MDM is loaded with programs such as Office, and
| Microsoft Script
| Debugger.
| The fix is to prevent it from loading, by renaming the
| file, and
| removing its reference in the startup group.
|
| Rename MDM.EXE to MDM.EX_ or MDM.BAD, or something like
| that.
| Look for any reference to MDM.EXE in the Startup folders:
| C:\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp
| C:\Windows\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp
| and in the registry run key:
| HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Cur rentVers
| ion\Run
| and delete it.
|
| Then delete all those fff___.tmp files.
| Note that if you reinstall any of the programs that
| added MDM.EXE, you
| may get it loaded back, and will have to disable it
| again.

| | Thank you Eric for your timely response. The concern I
| | have with the error message that each time she gets the
| | message it also freezes up her machine and she has to
| | cold shut it down. Do you think by disabling this
| | notification that it will also stop her machine from
| | freezing up? I will have her follow your directions and
| | thanks again for your help - it is greatly appreciated.

| | You can usually bypass those scrip error messages by
| | just
| | clicking on the OK button.
| |
| | If you don't want the message to show, open Internet
| | Options in the Start = Settings = Control Panel,
| open
| | the Advanced tab, and disable the setting
| | called, "Display
| | a notification about every script error".
| |
| | The error is with Yahoo's site, not with your
| computer,
| | and its usually not a serious error, that's why you
| can
| | switch the error notification off.

| | I have previously posted this under windows 98
| Browser -
| |
| | but did not receive a response - so I am posting here
| | in
| | hopes of getting some help. So I apologize for the
| | double posting. My neice is running windows 98 with
| IE
| | 6
| | and after uninstalling McAfee Anti Virus she has
| | started
| | receiving the following error message when trying to
| | use
| | Yahoo instant message.
| |
| | Internet Explorer Script Error
| | LINE: 233
| | CHAR: 13
| | ERROR: Unknown Run Time Error
| | CODE: 0
| | URL: file://c:/windows/temp/TMPF040.TMP
| |
| | Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated -
