Default BIOS beep codes

There is no way a standard modem can detect and warn of excessive line
current from phone line. Furthermore, line current is limited by the
telco Central Office switch. Such messages are suspicious - but not
from a standard modem, its driver, or standard Operating System
messages. The beeping is also suspicious. But again, there is
nothing in that message that is normal, comes from properly written
software, or can be detected by existing and standard hardware. IOW
your suspicions should be targeted elsewhere.

One other note: Every now and then I get an error message that says
"excessive line current. May cause damage to your modem. Unplug your
telephone line to avoid damage to your modem" I called the phone
company to ask them if they had overrent on their lines and of course
they said no. Any more ideas?
